The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) has announced significant reforms in the NEET UG 2026 counselling process to make admissions more transparent, efficient, and student-friendly. In an official letter dated 28 July 2026, Dr. Vinod Kotwal, Additional Secretary, informed all States and Union Territories about the new measures implemented by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

1. No Physical Reporting Required for Candidates Opting for Upgradation

Instead, their admission will continue to remain valid in the MCC counselling system while they participate in later rounds, subject to applicable counselling rules.

to participate in these training programmes.

5. States Asked to Publish Complete Seat & Fee Information

The Ministry has reminded all States and Union Territories that while MCC conducts counselling for:

• 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats
• 100% Deemed Universities
• Central Universities

the majority of medical seats are filled through State counselling.

Therefore, States have been requested to make the following information easily accessible to candidates:

• Seat Matrix
• Tuition Fee Structure
• College-wise Admission Information
• Other Counselling Details
