NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam: NMC Restricts Leave for Medical Students Ahead of June 21 Test
According to an official notice issued on June 18, the directive was issued following a request from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. The move aims to safeguard the integrity of the examination process and prevent any activities that could affect its fair conduct.
The Commission has also urged medical colleges to remain alert and educate students about the importance of maintaining ethical standards during the examination period. Institutions have been advised to discourage any involvement in actions that could undermine the credibility of the national entrance test.
In its communication, the NMC noted that past incidents had raised concerns about the possible involvement of some medical students in activities related to examination malpractice. As a precautionary measure, colleges have been asked to closely monitor the situation during the re-examination period.
The directive follows a letter sent on June 13 by Higher Education Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The letter requested cooperation from medical institutions to ensure that students do not participate in any activities that may interfere with the smooth conduct of the examination.
Authorities had issued similar instructions before the original NEET-UG 2026 examination held on May 3, emphasizing vigilance and restricting leave around the examination dates.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, with officials focusing on maintaining transparency and fairness throughout the process.
