NEET UG 2025 Counselling: Over 1.15 Lakh MBBS Seats Available
This year, MCC will conduct four rounds of counselling for All India Quota (AIQ) seats. These include Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and the Stray Vacancy round. Seats from central universities, deemed universities, and other medical institutions will be covered in these rounds.
Over 12 Lakh Qualified, But Only 1.15 Lakh MBBS Seats Available
Out of more than 24 lakh students who appeared for NEET UG 2025, around 12.36 lakh candidates have qualified. However, only about 1,15,900 MBBS seats are available across government, private, and other medical colleges in the country. This means only one in ten qualified candidates will be able to secure a seat in an MBBS programme.
The seat matrix includes 775 medical colleges under the 15 per cent AIQ. These institutions include more than 400 government colleges, 32 private colleges, 13 government (society) colleges, 44 society-run colleges, and over 250 trust-run colleges. This reflects the range of institutions participating in NEET UG counselling.
Seat Allotment On July 31, Reporting Begins August 1
The NEET UG 2025 seat allotment result for Round 1 will be declared on July 31. Candidates allotted seats must report to their respective institutes between August 1 and August 6. Following this, institutes will carry out data verification on August 7 and 8, 2025, to ensure that all admissions are completed smoothly and without any discrepancies.
To ensure a smooth and timely counselling process, the MCC has directed all participating institutes to strictly follow the counselling schedule. Given the limited time frame, Saturdays, Sundays, and Gazetted Holidays will be treated as regular working days.
