NTA Warns Against Fake NEET UG 2026 Video, Launches Investigation

NEET UG is one of India's largest entrance examinations, with more than 20 lakh candidates participating this year. Given the importance of the exam, authorities expressed concern that such misinformation could create unnecessary anxiety among students and their families.

NTA Dismisses Viral Claims

In an official response, the NTA clarified that the allegations made in the viral video are baseless. According to the agency, the examination was conducted smoothly across the country under strict security arrangements and monitoring systems.

Officials stated that all examination centres followed established protocols and that the conduct of the exam remained secure throughout the day. The agency urged candidates not to rely on unverified information circulating online.

Investigation Into Misinformation

The NTA described the creation and distribution of the video as a serious matter. Authorities believe the content may have been intentionally designed to mislead candidates and undermine confidence in the examination process.

Officials warned that the spread of false information during major national examinations can cause confusion, stress, and distrust among students, making it essential to address such incidents promptly.

Cybercrime Agencies Involved

To identify those responsible, the NTA is coordinating with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and other law-enforcement agencies. Investigators are examining the origin and circulation of the video.

The agency indicated that individuals found responsible for creating or spreading false information could face legal action under relevant laws.

Advisory for Students and Parents

The NTA has advised students, parents, and guardians to depend only on official sources for updates regarding NEET UG 2026. Candidates have been encouraged to verify information through official NTA communications and the designated examination website.

The agency also appealed to social media users to avoid sharing unverified content that may contribute to misinformation.

Importance of Reliable Information

The incident highlights the growing challenge of managing misinformation in the digital era. With information spreading rapidly through social media platforms, inaccurate claims can reach large audiences within a short time.

Authorities emphasized that maintaining trust in the examination system is crucial, particularly for high-stakes tests that influence the academic futures of millions of students. The ongoing investigation reflects efforts to ensure transparency, fairness, and confidence in the examination process.
