What is NEET UG 2026 refund process? When it will start

As part of the refund procedure, NTA will launch a dedicated section on its official website where candidates will need to submit their valid bank account details. The examination fee paid earlier will be refunded to the bank account provided by the candidate. Once the portal becomes active, students will be required to log in and complete the banking information process.

The agency has also clarified that candidates appearing for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will not have to pay any additional fee for taking the exam again.

The re-examination is being conducted after the NEET UG 2026 exam held on May 3 was cancelled due to allegations related to a paper leak and other irregularities. Around 22 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the fresh examination, which is scheduled for June 21, 2026, in pen-and-paper mode. The exam timing will be from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.

According to NTA’s FAQ document, candidates will not be allowed to change the examination language or medium selected during the original application process.

Additionally, candidates who have changed their current address or relocated were given an opportunity to update their preferred exam city. The correction window remained open until May 21, 2026, at 11:50 PM.

NTA further informed students that the examination centre for the re-test may not be the same as the previous one. The new centre allocation will depend on updated city preferences and the availability of exam centres.
